The Puro Pourri Podcast Episode 1 – George’s First Puro Match

Ever wanted to find out more about Japanese pro wrestling (puroresu) in all its variety and glory? Of course you have! Join Daniel, George and David for an irreverent look at the good, bad, ugly and bizarre of Japan’s greatest cultural export.

Episode 1 is the first of our three part look at each of our first Puroresu matches, beginning with George. The match in question is so famous, it is referred in hushed tones by a simple date… “06/09/95”. The match sees All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi against the “Holy Demon Army” of Toshiaki Kawada and Akira Taue in what is quite clearly the greatest Tag Team match of all time.

We discuss the Misawa/Kawada rivalry to this point, Kobashi’s mangled leg, the impossibly high standards of posters on Wrestling Forum and Giant Baba’s possible links to the IRA.
